Publisher’s Description

Wishes in branches tied with string. Someone’s hopes. Another’s dreams.

Norma Braxton, a member of the Winey Widows and a retired high school librarian, is busy working on the All-Class Reunion in Linden Falls, when she comes face-to-face with a man from her past. A man who knows her secret.

She’s determined to pretend he’s mistaken when he recognizes her, fearful that he could divulge what he knows and upend her quiet life. The life she’s carefully constructed and led for the last 50 years.

He’s persistent and doesn’t leave town like she hopes, committed to learn more about the woman he remembers. Norma hasn’t tied a wish on The Wishing Tree for years, but the appearance of the man she once knew, awakens something in her heart and leads her to the beloved tree in the center of town. Her wish is long overdue, but is there any chance of it coming true?

Main Characters:

  • Norma Braxton – Linden Falls retired high school librarian, member of the Winey Widows who meet at the bookstore
  • Chet Nelson – retired high school special education teacher and baseball coach, in Linden Falls playing with a band for the town’s 250th birthday

Overdue Wishes is Tammy L. Grace’s second contribution and five-star read to The Wishing Tree series. As the organizer of the Linden Falls 250th birthday celebration, Norma is just enjoying the turnout when the story begins…until she sees Chet Nelson. Chet recognizes Norma, but Norma pretends that he has mistaken her for someone else.

Now Norma isn’t exactly a common name, and we all know that Chet must suspect Norma is lying. We just don’t know why. Norma feels like she will be in the clear once Chet leaves town, but apparently Chet has other ideas. He decides to stay for a few days, and if we as readers have learned anything from The Wishing Tree series, we have learned that people who decide to stay for a few days usually end up staying for good.

Chet is no exception. This is an amazing story about high school crushes, broken dreams, and self-forgiveness. I don’t want to give too much away, but Norma found herself in Linden Falls after college when she left home thinking she had ruined Chet’s life and future…a crushing responsibility for an 18-year-old. She went away for college and never looked back.

Chet’s life took him directions he didn’t anticipate, but when does life really ever turn out exactly like we plan it? When he happens upon Norma in Linden Falls, he is determined to set things straight despite Norma trying to avoid him at every turn.

What a beautiful addition to this series about wishes and dreams and how life may not turn out how we plan…but it might just give us a second chance that we never saw coming.
